We are very fortunate to have a great supplier of tea in the Northern retailer that is Booths. As a tea drinker living in Manchester we don’t have a great choice of supplier that we can turn to (ignoring Whittards that is) to restock on decent quality tea. Booths show how it should be done, stocking a wide selection of loose leaf tea in wuality sealed packaging and the best bit is the price.

Stocking around a dozen different types of tea on my last visit, I really enjoyed the Royal Assam, the All Day blend and the Orange Pekoe is delicious and refreshing. I bought a few green teas as well which I have yet to try but if my memory serves me rightly 3 x 125g bags were on offer at just £5.00. Decent quality loose tea at that price. Even if you bought one you didn’t like (I didn’t care for the Winter blend – too much Lapsang) then it really doesn’t matter.

If more shops cared about their tea and coffee as much as Booths do then it would be amazing but in a way i’m glad they don’t too. If I go in my local supermarket (Tesco) then the choice I have on loose tea is pitiful and it’s only recently they stocked higher end tea such as Teapigs and the Twinnings mesh tea sacks.

If you have a Booths nearby pay them a visit – there aren’t online sales yet but Amazon do carry some of their teas but there is a mark up on the price.

Well worth a visit.

2015

Posted: December 29, 2014 in Uncategorized

Another year nearly over and what a tea drinking year it has been. I’ve still got loads of teas to get through and these cold winter days provide the ideal opportunity to get drinking more of them.

I’m finding that time is working against me somewhat as there’s so much other stuff going on right now but rest assured wherever I am then a good cup of tea will never be far away.

Hope you all have an ace New Year and looking forward to doing more work on here next year.

Where it all began

Posted: November 7, 2014 in Uncategorized

Way back in 2012 I started a tea collection but didn’t really know much about the joy of loose leaf tea until last year. Some of these I still have now and the one in the black box which is a blue box with a black semi circle pattern on it is one of my favourite tea bag teas ever, a Morrisons Finest Ceylon Breakfast. This is where it all started from and now I have three boxes full of various loose teas and a cupboard full of bagged and pyramid teas.

Where has this year gone?

Posted: November 7, 2014 in Uncategorized

It seems like 2014 has flown by and its been nearly six months since I last wrote on here, wow where has that time gone to?

I’m still loving my tea, I now have more than ever to be drinking and that’s the joy of winter as that is when I most fancy a good quality brew.

On a trip down to London in August I popped into Drury Tea and Coffee (@druryUK) as I have missed them in the past and stocked up on many of their quality and reasonably priced teas. Then a trip round to Tea House in Covent Garden to acquire some weird and wonderful tea related beverages.

I’m putting my tea buying on hold for this year as I have so much to get through at present and new companies are springing up all of the time and next year I want to get an order in with Leaf in Liverpool and perhaps replenish my supplies from Monsoon Mountains.

Busy busy…. get the kettle on

It’s good to be back

Well after a nice relaxing week away I can honestly say it’s good to be home to a good brew once again. Majorca was a barren desert on the tea front, even a trip to the Eroski supermarket didn’t offer much hope either and the only local tea I tried didn’t even taste like tea. It’s not helped by the local water being quite high in minerals adding a certain something to the taste. In the end I took a tin full of tea with me, am I the only person to go on an all inclusive holiday who goes to the bar just for a cup of hot water?

That said the view from the balcony was worth it…

Can’t say too much but there are plans this year to extend development of MBT into more than just a tea drinkers blog and to take it to something much more. It’s only at the development stage at present but watch this space for further developments involving Jason Statham, Lady Gardens and a dash of darjeeling…

MBT

Cya later

No updates for a week – off to the tea barren island of Majorca for some much needed sunshine. Whilst I’d love to be proved wrong I just can’t see this being a mecca of all things tea related so my plan is to use up my emergency tea chest and then revert to Spanish coffee if need be.

See you all soon and put the kettle on for my return

P.S watch this space for some new and exciting ideas coming from MBT this year
